Thinking of renovating your home? Did you know you could get paid to pimp your crib? For\u00a0every energy-efficient installation or upgrade that reduces your \u00a0carbon footprint, the Government of Ontario is offering Ontario homeowners cold, hard cash.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Green Ontario Fund<\/a> offers rebates to homeowners who complete energy-efficient home renovations. The program offers up to a $7,200 rebate for new insulation, up to $5,000 for new windows, and up to $20,000 for new ground source heat pumps.<\/p>\n

Closing the gap<\/h2>\n

Did you know? Tiny gaps and cracks in your home can add up to big energy losses making your furnace work harder than it needs to. Air sealing is an easy way to keep the heat in and the elements out while helping you save. And through the GreenON fund, you could get an easy $100 just for for air sealing your home.<\/p>\n

Warmer home, cold hard cash<\/h2>\n

A well-insulated home keeps the temperature of any room the way you like it while helping to reduce heating and cooling costs and shrink your home\u2019s carbon footprint.\u00a0Cut drafts, lower heating and cooling costs and help keep your home temperature consistent by upgrading the insulation of your attic, basement and exterior walls.<\/p>\n

New windows, big money<\/h2>\n

High-performance windows are designed to reduce energy loss, condensation<\/a> and outdoor noise, which can help you save on heating and cooling costs \u2013 and increase your home\u2019s resale value.<\/p>\n

You can receive up to $500 for each \u201cbrick-to-brick\u201d window installation. This means that the window frames as well as the glass must be replaced. Bay or bow windows with more than one glass unit or other windows with pillars (whether load bearing or not) qualify as one rough opening.<\/p>\n

Other rebate options<\/h2>\n

The GreenON rebates are applicable to authorized thermostat replacements, and geothermal and air-source heat pumps \u2013 for a total of up to $20,000 in cash back. Not too shabby.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just homeowners that get a break for going greener. Small business owners, as well as manufacturers, institutions and large commercial business owners can also benefit from these rebates.<\/p>\n
